The Study on Somatotype of Elementary Students in Incheon according to Sasang Constitutions and Obesity

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data for childhood obesity and to compare between Sa-sang Constitution and body circumferences.

Methods: This study was carried out 835 case(411 females and 424 males) of elementary students. We took the body sizes by Inbody 720 and analysed the body shape of childhood. Besides we classified the students into 4 groups(Soumin, Soyangin, Taeumin, Taeyangin) and compared between each Constitutions and body circumferences.

Results and Conclusions: The more students become obesity, the more they have big body sizes based on BMI and Obesity degree. When the students become more obesity, they have more bigger limb sizes than trunk sizes based on BMI and Obesity degree. Taeumin group showed that the each body size was more bigger than other constitutions. Especially, there is all the difference between waist circumferences of Taeumin and others. but Soyangin had more bigger neck circumferences than others. Soumin has the biggest mean circumferences of the upper and lower limbs than other constitutions, and Taeumin has more mean circumferences of lower limbs than upper limbs.
